Hypno Safari - Shade
you told me you believed in me, no i just need some of that hope, you have so much
Boise seems to have a knack for producing honest musicians. Logan Hyde just sent me over his project Hypno Safari. And it’s just that, honest. Logan works with what he has, and does a lot with a little. He keeps things simple. And I think that’s why when this track picks up, it’s nearly overwhelming.
You might also know Logan from the stage he shares with Trevor Powers, as the guitarist for Youth Lagoon. He’s continuing to work on Hypno Safari in between shows, while on their huge tour. So be on the lookout for an EP in the future. And in the meantime grab the track and follow him up: facebook/twitter
Youth Lagoon - Montana
I can’t say a lot about this video that it doesn’t say for itself. Obviously Youth Lagoon is one of my favorite artists to emerge this year, and Tyler T. Williams has given him maybe his most cinematic treatment yet. All I can say is wait for the build.
Go buy The Year of Hibernation on Fat Possum now, and catch YL out on the road.
Youth Lagoon = Montana
Here is yet another glimpse into the raw internals of Trevor Powers upcoming album The Year Of Hibernation. The album, that is sure to break your heart and then become your best friend is due out July 5th, on the new Juno Beach Records. Make sure to go check out the other two tracks on his bandcamp, and stay tuned for more possible updates on the Youth Lagoon facebook page.

Previously :: Cannons / July
I had the pleasure of throwing together this mix for amazing UK based thread company Forty Ounce Clothing. What makes the deal even sweeter is that it’s in conjunction with a collaboration t-shirt by my very own sister Steffaloo.
So please go download the free mixtape HERE (or click the image above).
And buy the rad new tee HERE.

Tracklist ::
Youth Lagoon is Trevor Powers, from Boise, Idaho. He’s a student, a long-time musician, and about as raw a person as you can come by. Surprisingly, 22 years of living can provide you with enough hard times and pain to make the thought of dealing with those things the most painful thing of all.
In an great interview Audio Milk posted yesterday, Trevor talks about this anxiety haunting him. His inability to work through and express some of the hardships he’s been feeling. That is until he found his place in Youth Lagoon. It’s funny how art can sometimes be the missing link. Our only outlet to an otherwise lonely and confusing existence. And you can hear all of this, wrapped up in the pounding, yet almost angelic sounds of July.
The fourthcoming album The Year of Hibernation is due out in the coming months on new (and also forthcoming) label Juno Beach Records. And we can all thank Lance Smith of Pandit for putting his master mastering touch on these tracks.
