Moon Bounce have been a favorite for quite some time. And now Corey Regensburg is working on a new LP that’s yet to be named, but is due sometime this Spring, if the fates allow. Telephone is our first listen, and it comes fully equipped with this homemade video, he admittedly had no real plan for…they just kind of did it. And yet I can’t imagine a more fitting moving image. As the vocals loop, “There, with a telephone” - Corey is doing his version of just that. And frankly, I’m glad it doesn’t look like anyone else’s.
Grab Telephone here.
Shigeto - Please Stay

Shigeto’s Lineage EP just released today on Ghostly International. I couldn’t stop listening to the EP all day yesterday (thanks to FADER), it did a great to to aid my Monday blues, and keep me from plunging their depths, as can sometimes happen. The eight songs play as some kind of meditation, allowing you to let it subvert your conscious and play its part in whatever you’re doing.
Zach Saginaw’s many facets of talent shine through on this mini-LP. It’s almost as much a look back on music - jazz, hip-hop, etc. - as it is on his own ancestry. I highly suggest you go stream this bad boy, then buy it on wax over at Ghostly.
Day Joy - New Ordinary
And another great project blooms from the brightening flower that is Orlando, FL. With some slight ties to another favorite Orlando band, Saskatchewan, Day Joy springs forth from the two minds of Michael and Peter. The full, sweet sounding dream you hear before you started on porches, and gradually grew through living rooms, microphones, condensers, and more. The metamorphosis of art will always be a wonder to me.
Go download the New Ordinary 7”, and be on the lookout for more in the coming months.
Well, I’ve been trying to wade through the myriads of emails backing up my cyber drains since SXSW. In the midst, however, I’ve been enjoying a lot of new music. Buzzing about a lot lately has been the new-wave R&B project Weeknd. I downloaded their free album House of Balloons after reading an awesome piece about them, the future of pop music and R&B on always poignant Salad Fork.
And it’s dark seductive gyrations of beats and sex have been a constant listen since. Do yourself a favor and go grab it yourself. Also follow them up on tumblr.
Halls = Solace
Before I say anything about this amazing project, I must tell you of the source. Quickly becoming one of my favorite blogs, Spanish based Egyptian Maraccas has been pumping out serious jams, unique and dynamic. They’re already connected to some really cool things, and I’ve been really privileged to get connected with them as well. If you don’t already, go FOLLOW them now!
Now, about this amazing project from Londoner Sam Howard. Halls produces such understated tracks, with lofting lyrics used as both a personal outlet and an instrument. The minute I heard this, I was hooked. I went ahead and picked up everything he has on his bandcamp; Solace being his most recent single. Be expecting more from him in the coming weeks/months.
