Trailers for this beautiful collaboration between Danish collective Efterklang and French film maker extraordinaire Vincent Moon, have been trickling out for months now, one at a time.
“In August 2010, French filmmaker Vincent Moon and Efterklang’s 8 piece-live band met up on an island off the Danish coast.
The objective was to shoot a film. A film with the same length as an album, and a film full of performances, experiments and collaborations. Over an intense period of 4 days Efterklang collaborated with more than 200 local musicians, kids and parents, creating new performances and interpretations of songs from their album Magic Chairs (4AD, Rumraket 2010).
It was all filmed by Vincent Moon who same time conducted several filmic and musical experiments with Efterklang as his dedicated playmates.”
The film is to be released February 1st around the world through screenings. The band and director are hosting several of these in the UK, but so badly want to share it that they are opening the possibility to host a screening to the public. There are some rules and guidelines, but you can apply to host your own screening here. I’d love to get one going here in LA, so if you know of any opportunities or spaces let me know! Looking forward to this film as it promises to deliver some of the freshest eyes on creative musical collaborations possible.
El Guincho = Bombay (NSFW)
Something racy and a little naughty to end your week with. God knows I need it, maybe you do too. Mark says it all :: “boobies and Carl Sagan”
The Spaniard’s new video has been making the ‘rounds, breathlessly declared one of the ‘best videos of the year!’ They ain’t lyin’. It’s absolutely incredible. Two words: boobies and Carl Sagan, m’kay?

iNudge :: Everyone Can Create Music
Awesome 16 step matrix that has all the elements you need to make some kick-ass beats and glitching rhythms. My friend just put me onto this, and I’m about to get fired for playing with this at work.
After you’ve finished you can share a link to your master piece and who knows, maybe you’ll make it big in the blogosphere because of your “sick” inudge tracks.
I just downloaded this mix and have been spinning in it all morning. It amazes me how “tuned in” Nathaniel (Think or Smile) is. This is a perfect representation of all the amazing music that has been breaking through this last month. If you want an even more extensive list, check out his Monthly Free Music Collection. There’s like 50 free EPs, albums, or mixes there! The dude is insane!

As the days get a little shorter and the nights a little cooler my daily soundtrack is starting to shift gears. Moving slightly away from synth-drenched beach jams and into the realm of fall sounds.. chill, sample laced, beats with soul. Music for a crisp evening.
