Fakeout Move - a yvynyl mixtape
I love the idea of a fakeout move. You know, like basketballers do. Fake left, fake right, then hit the jumper. I think this is about being able to flow with the unexpected in life. Being fluid. Being ready. And then taking your shot when you have the chance.
This tape - as with all my mixes - is crafted over weeks. I not only try and pick my favorite new music, but also highlight bands who are making great work in some measure of obscurity. This list is really a great balance of the two. Some names you’ll certainly recognize - a couple here are yvynyl mixtape alumn with great new material - while other work is just on the cusp, ready for the world to notice. I hope you enjoy it all and support the artists who craft this fine art.

His Clancyness = Last Dream on the Grass (for EG)
Brain over at White Guys With Beards just released the third volume of his WGWB & Friends mixtapes. The previous ones were magical and ground breaking, and this one is just as full of pure good than the others were. In listening to it most of the day yesterday, this track in particular struck me. I’m not sure why.
Some of the gems on this mix include new tracks from friends Teen Daze, Ghost Animal, Persona La Ave, Kiss Kiss Fantastic and more. It’s so well worth your time you’re time will start paying you just to listen to it over and over.
Go download it for free over at WGWB, and order the special edition cassette from the most reliable tape label around Wonder Beard Tapes for just $4.
I just downloaded this mix and have been spinning in it all morning. It amazes me how “tuned in” Nathaniel (Think or Smile) is. This is a perfect representation of all the amazing music that has been breaking through this last month. If you want an even more extensive list, check out his Monthly Free Music Collection. There’s like 50 free EPs, albums, or mixes there! The dude is insane!

As the days get a little shorter and the nights a little cooler my daily soundtrack is starting to shift gears. Moving slightly away from synth-drenched beach jams and into the realm of fall sounds.. chill, sample laced, beats with soul. Music for a crisp evening.

An Aquarium Drunkard Mixtape
By the off chance that you missed it, Justin over at Aquarium Drunkard just posted a new mixtape by Mondo Boys. And I’ve been grooving to it for the better part of the week, though we’re only halfway through.
Their last mixtape dates back to March of this year, so this new one is met with much anticipation. I’ve come to download these without even reading the track list. They are that good. I definitely prefer to listen to the continuous mix, which you can download up top, or head over to AD to download the .zip of each individual track.
