Fantasy Island - Lost and Found

This new Los Angeles project first impressed us with it’s release of Avenue about a month ago. It was a bit more rowdy than the above track, Lost and Found, hot off the presses. Starting as if we just missed the beginning, and ending just as abruptly, this track is like catching the middle of a dream. It bounces in your subconscious with nuanced melodies enough to totally lose yourself. And by the end of the one minute, fifty seconds, you awaken…found. Lost and found.
At last. FMLY FEST 2011 line-up and full details announced. Check out the musical line-up below! And click on the poster above to go get tickets, read more about the happenings, and get pumped up!

I recently started contributing to an amazing new Los Angeles based blog - Los Angeles I’m Yours. And my first post is featuring a brand new EP from LA based Flashing Red Lights. Here’s what I had to say below, but go check out the beautiful site for yourself.

Mack Slevin is the man behind LA based project, Flashing Red Lights. It’s not singer/songwriter, it’s not rock and roll, it’s not electro…or maybe it’s all of those things. And Mack has somehow figured out how to marry them all, into one big polygamist family of sound.Flashing Red Lights is raw as it is innovative, and it’s nice to hear something that doesn’t sound like something another kid learned how to make on his laptop.
His brand new EP, Faster Horses is out and ready for your consumption. It’s three songs full of experimental ingenuity that is simultaneously familiar, and like nothing you’ve heard before.
Oregon Bike Trails = High School Lover

The infallible Father/Daughter Records continues it’s streak with the release of a brand new 7” for one of my favorite artists to emerge this year. Zach Yudin is Oregon Bike Trails, and makes some of the most infections bubble-gum pop jams, it’s hard to believe he started in his bedroom. He’s fully equipped with band behind him now, and has been playing shows around LA.
Go listen to the previously unreleased B-side here. And order this bad boy from Father/Daughter here. This will be a great addition to my slowly growing OBT physical collection.
White Arrows = Coming or Going
Though a little late to the party, I was so pleased to find Los Angeles band White Arrows yesterday. They are a great raucous psych-pop group with tons of material for you to tear into. Their most recent is a self-titled EP with a lot of great stuff on it. Above is one of my favorites.
You can grab all of it including a bunch of remixes and covers they’ve done at their bandcamp.
Looking forward to catching this gang sometime soon in LA.
