Kiss Kiss Fantastic - Stars Over Rodinia

If you haven’t listened to Dark Matter yet, then I’m sorry, you’ve missed the boat. But, luckily it’s taken me a few weeks to really get this album into my system, so here it is now, for any of you stragglers.

It’s hard to believe that it was nearly two years ago, the last time we were given a piece of work by this internet-connected duo. Dark Matter came to us just as gently and subtley as the track above, Stars Over Rodinia, begins. It’s indistinguishable cluster of synths growing louder as we are drawn closer - and just then, that celestial voice begins it’s unearthly whisper.

Both the Red/Blue Shift EP and Dark Matter have space themed cover artwork, and it seems that there is this astronomical element in their music too. Somehow combining the dissonance of space, with the gratification of pop. It’s an odd, but very intriguing mission. And what a perfect pair to pull this off, than two people, never having met, living thousands of miles away, creating music with nothing but space in between them.

Paperfangs = Violet (Kiss Kiss Fantastic Cover)

Paperfangs recently teamed up with awesome blog EardrumsPop to produce an awesome three song EP. There is a load of stuff included in the download, including a digital booklet of info on the band and the project. Ever since I posted about their song Books a while back, I have been excited to hear more. What really topped it off for me though was the cover of blog favorite and miniature person award winner Kiss Kiss Fantastic’s Violet.

Go download the EP and more over at EardrumsPop now!

Persona La Ave = WILLCAVE (feat. Rachel Levy) (right-click to D/L)

If you’re planning on going spelunking any time soon, you might want to pay special attention to this collaboration between Dylan of Persona La Ave and Rachel of Kiss Kiss Fantastic. The darkness of it all, with only the reverberations off the cave walls to help you find your way. As if a kind of sonar. Eventually bringing you to that perfectly calm pool, clear and somehow lit. And it’s there that you know you’ll find the treasure.

Dylan sure knows how to bring a smooth jam. And there’s more where that came from, he’s been busy this summer, and we can expect some goodies to come here in the near future.

Don’t forget to download the digital re-release of Kiss Kiss Fantastic’s wonderful debut here from Summertime In Hell
