Man Cameron has nailed it here with this sweet sweet mixtape full of exclusive jams from some my, and the blogworld’s in general favorite artists. I couldn’t agree more with the level of generosity and talent these guys exude. It’s an encouraging time for music and the industry it exists within because of guys like Cameron and artists like the ones on “Small Summits”.

After over a month’s worth of preparation and interaction with some of today’s most generous and talented artists, I am proud to present you with The Road Goes Ever On’s first mix tape. Not only were these artists kind enough to correspond with me, they were willing to share unreleased material exclusively for this album - some even creating entirely new songs to premiere on the tape. With that said, I encourage you to not only take advantage of the wealth of free music they are all putting out on their bandcamp and SoundCloud pages, but also to give what you can to fuel their future work. While these acts may not sell out stadiums or top billboards charts, the songs on this tape, along with all the music they’ve released thus far, show that they possess the ability to carry us to unexpected heights. With that, I am humbled to present Small Summits.

REMIX NOTES:
Coma Cinema is the folk-dappled, chilled out confessional/accusational songwriting of Mat Cothran from South Carolina. Mat’s immediately relatable voicebox brings along with it a striking, unsettling way with words, and Coma Cinema’s minimal arrangements tend more often to elevate and illuminate his lyrics than to obfuscate them in walls of sound. The goal for this remix was to preserve the emotional gravity of his song while having some fun with space and time - GBL’s first 6/8 disco section, but hopefully not our last.

Mat has just dropped a lovely full-length tape on the mighty Arcade Sound Ltd., revealed a somewhat disturbing music video for Only, and will be playing shows around the east coast throughout the summer months. Don’t miss him.

Azeda Booth = Bridges and Balloons (Joanna Newsom Cover)

This opening track for Cecil’s new mixtape blew my mind. It instantly convinced me that I should probably go ahead and download the whole mix, and I did not regret it!

And after checking out Azeda Booth, turns out they are great through and through. And it just so happens there new EP is free for download at their myspace. A good cover of Joanna Newsom is rare to find, if you can even find it at all, but this version kills it on every level.
