I was so excited when I saw this lineup. Then I realized that I will be driving from LA to Denver for Goldrush Music Festival the 15th. Thus commencing heartbreak. But for those of you in town on the 15th please do yourself a favor and go to this. Highly recommended!

A few weeks ago, a bunch of really amazing people came through LA. Among them, Dylan Khotin-Foote of Happy Trendy and Kumon Plaza, Warren Hildebrand of Foxes in Fiction, and Johanne Swanson aka Yohuna. They played a few shows while here, each of them just out of my reach to be able to attend. This is maybe my biggest regret in life. Especially after seeing these videos done by Jon Casey and friends at his house show.

Headaches + Foxes in Fiction = untitled (pt. i)
Coming back from the rush of excitement that SXSW was, I am thrust back into brutal reality. Luckily, this piece of music came at just the right moment. Suppressing the stresses of my life, and sustaining my breath just long enough to not drown. But seriously, this collaboration between experimental genius Landon Speers and Foxes in Fiction’s Warren Hildebrand was a match made in heaven.
This is just the first half of a 30 minute song you can check out here. Amazingly this track was recorded in one take and is their first collaboration ever. Enjoy.
There’s a lot to catch up on that went down over the weekend. But, one that is an instant reblog had to be this recent release from Beko Digital Single Lable. Foxes in Fiction - Lately (Memoryhouse cover)
Warren rarely fails at anything he produces. This lovely cover of Memoryhouse is no exception. I just bought one of twenty “re-presses” of his tape for Swung From the Branches and I’m so happy he’s putting out a few more so I could get it in my hands. His Orchid Tapes is moving it’s way into one of the foremost tape makers for some blog favorite artists. Be on the look out for his releases.
I haven’t really recorded anything new in a while because my recording interface is broken and has been giving me problems since like March. But, I thought I’d try to get around that by rewiring my whole set up and by using my reel-to reel, SO last night I threw together a cover of Lately, a song by a band that I’ve really grown to love recently.
The lyrics in this song always seemed incredibly sad to me and made me think of someone who is trapped in a hospital bed, having machines do everything for them while slipping in and out of consciousness and then eventually coming to the decision that they want to die instead of living an artificial life like that.
There were a few new recording techniques I’d been dying to try out which I think turned out alright. I ended up bouncing some of the guitar tracks to and from my tape machine about three time. No samples. Hope you like it.
I have another collection of recordings coming out soon on Orchid Tapes that is still untitled, but it’s gonna rawk ur sox when u hear it u guyz.
