Trailers for this beautiful collaboration between Danish collective Efterklang and French film maker extraordinaire Vincent Moon, have been trickling out for months now, one at a time.

“In August 2010, French filmmaker Vincent Moon and Efterklang’s 8 piece-live band met up on an island off the Danish coast.
The objective was to shoot a film. A film with the same length as an album, and a film full of performances, experiments and collaborations.
Over an intense period of 4 days Efterklang collaborated with more than 200 local musicians, kids and parents, creating new performances and interpretations of songs from their album Magic Chairs (4AD, Rumraket 2010).
It was all filmed by Vincent Moon who same time conducted several filmic and musical experiments with Efterklang as his dedicated playmates.”

The film is to be released February 1st around the world through screenings. The band and director are hosting several of these in the UK, but so badly want to share it that they are opening the possibility to host a screening to the public. There are some rules and guidelines, but you can apply to host your own screening here. I’d love to get one going here in LA, so if you know of any opportunities or spaces let me know! Looking forward to this film as it promises to deliver some of the freshest eyes on creative musical collaborations possible.

Efterklang = I Was Playing Drums

The new single from Efterklang out April 19th on 4AD. The b-side is featuring “Me Me Me the Brick House”. This video is so creative. Maybe Copenhagen is the place to be. It sure seems like a lot of amazing stuff is coming out of there. Lots of love for Efterklang.

Efterklang at Spaceland last night was something I really needed, and honestly every bit as good as I could have imagined it being.

They are such a pure band who obviously love and believe what they are doing. I got to thank them all personally, and everyone of them was gracious and overwhelmingly appreciative. They are a band that pulls out all the bad things about what music and that industry can be in some instances, and iconisizes (maybe not a word) everything it should be.

I’m truly thankful for them, and would not miss them if you can help it.

Efterklang = I Was Playing Drums

I was just thinking of posting this, but thought I’d reblog instead. Watching this makes me seriously excited about seeing them on Tuesday at Spaceland. There new album is gold, and you should buy it.
