Paperfangs = Violet (Kiss Kiss Fantastic Cover)
Paperfangs recently teamed up with awesome blog EardrumsPop to produce an awesome three song EP. There is a load of stuff included in the download, including a digital booklet of info on the band and the project. Ever since I posted about their song Books a while back, I have been excited to hear more. What really topped it off for me though was the cover of blog favorite and miniature person award winner Kiss Kiss Fantastic’s Violet.

Foxes in Fiction - Lately (Memoryhouse cover)
Warren rarely fails at anything he produces. This lovely cover of Memoryhouse is no exception. I just bought one of twenty “re-presses” of his tape for Swung From the Branches and I’m so happy he’s putting out a few more so I could get it in my hands. His Orchid Tapes is moving it’s way into one of the foremost tape makers for some blog favorite artists. Be on the look out for his releases.
I haven’t really recorded anything new in a while because my recording interface is broken and has been giving me problems since like March. But, I thought I’d try to get around that by rewiring my whole set up and by using my reel-to reel, SO last night I threw together a cover of Lately, a song by a band that I’ve really grown to love recently.
The lyrics in this song always seemed incredibly sad to me and made me think of someone who is trapped in a hospital bed, having machines do everything for them while slipping in and out of consciousness and then eventually coming to the decision that they want to die instead of living an artificial life like that.
There were a few new recording techniques I’d been dying to try out which I think turned out alright. I ended up bouncing some of the guitar tracks to and from my tape machine about three time. No samples. Hope you like it.
I have another collection of recordings coming out soon on Orchid Tapes that is still untitled, but it’s gonna rawk ur sox when u hear it u guyz.

The crew does it again with this one. COOLRUNNINGS infuses this already amazing song with their trademark heavy rhythm and dramatic synths making it something all together original and glorious.

Kendal Johansson = Blue Moon (Big Star Cover)
While I was talking a stroll down “Total Win Lane”, aka Transparent Blog, I stumbled across this song, then this video. The haunting and cutting vocals of Johansson hit me hard last night, and I couldn’t stop listening to it. She’s got a 7” out on Sincerely Yours (not to be confused with Yours Truly).
COOLRUNNINGS - Lovefool (Cardigans Cover)
Brandon from COOLRUNNINGS (tumblr) just sent me over this track they did a couple days ago. Who doesn’t like a fun little cover of a song like “Lovefool”??
