Stephen Farris was kind enough to send over this new video and song for what’s going to be a very exciting release. He’s actually planning on doing a VHS release for his next album, because he is putting together visualizations, like this one for each song on the album! I don’t think I’ve heard of someone doing this. But it sounds awesome! You can definitely sign me up!
Stephen Farris = After a Moment
I was excited to receive something once again from the prolific beat maker, VHS nostalgia master Stephen Farris. You probably know him as Cosmic Sound, but he is no longer going by that moniker, rather by his “christian” name, simple as that. Though as you can tell by this brand new track, the name change has done nothing to change his dynamic sound.
He’s currently working on a release for Alpha Pup Records who definitely have it in with some heavier hitters. Be on the lookout!
Let’s Get Together__

I’ve been sitting on this mix for a little while now. It all came together quite nicely, and I’ve been letting it settle in my musical stomach. And it seems the time has come to let everyone help me digest it.
Now a few things you must know about this mix; it’s filled with some serious summer tunes I’ve had on constant rotation for some time now, most significantly during my time home for my little brother’s high school graduation, where my entire family was home for the first time in almost two years. So I thought it appropriate to name it likewise. Second of ly, the mixtape you’re about to download is my first go at a “continuous” mix. I even experimented with a bit of sampling and transitions. Pretty novice stuff, but none the less a step in the right direction.
So ‘right-click’ on the track below to get the 55 minute continuous track. And click the big DOWNLOAD to get the individual tracks.

Video for Cosmic Sound’s “Bear Auras” (original song and images by CS)
Listening to Cosmic Sound is like getting a hug from your old family VCR. Wrapped up in it’s wurring tapes, and indecisive focus tracking. Not sure if it’s the fuzz or the blurriness that supplies the warmth; then again maybe it’s neither, maybe it’s the nostalgia. Either way, Steven Farris is making some head bobbing analogue-esque jams well worth your attention.
This is a new song that he’s just released that will be on his forthcoming full-length album, which I’m very excited about.

Cosmic Sound // VHS Vision EP

Cosmic Sound has just sent over his EP appropriately titled VHS Vision. The EP consists of short but rewarding 2 minute tracks which take you on an trippy journey through the VHS era.
I have already posted the stand out track Night Owl.
Download VHS Vision here immediately
I really couldn’t say much more about this. Downloaded it this morning and have been listening to it today. Just as Jarred describes the tracks are short, but they are sweet, and rewarding. Definitely diggin’ it.
