Atlantic at Pacific = Weddings

Not sure why it took me this long to catch on to Atlantic At Pacific? I guess sometimes projects just slip through the cracks.

Austin Wood is the man behind AatP and some might say he’s got too many fires in the oven, but as far as I’m concerned being involved in too many projects is rarely a bad thing. He’s been an active part of Blackbird Blackbird’s live performances in the past, half of BBBB’s side project Lemonade Dance Party, and the man behind Radio!, and who knows what else. But it seems like things have finally “caught” with this new project. Advertised as chillwave, as per Washed Out, Eno, and others, you can’t really deny it. But in a larger scope of his projects, I think we can expect a lot more out of Wood in future endevors. His style is his own, and you can hear it in the sublties of his music.

Weddings is his debut full-length coming out August 24th on Alchemist Records. It’s aural, bouncing and at times dark. Be sure to pick it up digitally, on CD, and even on limited edition CD.

Mikey’s proclivity towards doing things never ceases to amaze me.
The guy has been up to a lot and there is much to show for it. There is remix upon remix, a full length Summer Heart LP out, his first 7” pressed, and much much more.
Mikey dropped the first taste of his upcoming EP Rarities last night. The track is entitled Until Dawn Takes Flight and if you’re not immediately struck by it’s uniqueness among Blackbird Blackbird tracks, then you haven’t been listening enough. Real drums, whether sampled, or live recorded add a whole new element to his recordings. And the vocal concentration set this track a part from the rest in a really good way. Get excited for Rarities, it’s dropping soon, and it’s gonna be free.
In more exciting news, Mikey just emailed me with a new remix of his track Hawaii by none other than Superhumanoids. It’s totally awesome, but what’s more awesome is that it’s going to be released on a Hawaii 7” released by brand new label Solar Oak. This label is run by Mikey himself, along with Sunvisor. Very exciting news with a lot of promise. Having been in the game and having worked with a good amount of labels, and non-labels, I feel good about how he’ll deal with his future artists. And it’ll be good for him to have something else to do too I suppose.
