Coma Cinema = Stoned Alone (feat. Rachel Levy)
This song, and Coma Cinema in general, are really bringing the right kind of attitude to this cloudy day in LA. Love the Rachel Levy collab too. Nothing does my heart better than seeing two amazing artists working together to make something even sweeter.
You may recognize Rachel Levy from the amazing band Kiss Kiss Fantastic. She has contributed her lovely voice and musical talents to an alternate version of our song “stoned alone”, which was featured on the amazing White Guys With Beards compilation cassette recently.
Look for this version to appear with some new songs and b sides on an upcoming EP for Royal Flying Rhino.
Dylan from PERSONA LA AVE just sent me over this “sci-fi hip hop jam” called “skirtchasing”. Pretty great stuff. Reminds me of the super cool vibes of Gold Panda and the sort. Check out their myspace for some other tunes, among which is one with Smoke Don’t Smoke’s favorite Coma Cinema. They are on the tumblrs too.
So, I’m just now realizing that I’m a little late on Coma Cinema, but honestly, I don’t care. I stumbled upon these guys tumblr last night actually and was immediately hooked by the greatness they were posting. Turns out they are due to release a new album June 1st with the illustrious Arcade Sound Ltd. who seem to be winning a whole lot lately.
This video is so money and it doesn’t even know it. (It probably does)
You can download their earlier album “Baby Prayers” on the “Sounds” tab of their website (which is perfectly artistic and minimal). They’ve taken a bit of a different route than their local music-mates like Toro y Moi and Washed Out all hailing from South Carolina. Their music is soft, but thoughtful. Kind of depressing and stoney, which means it’s the good kind of depressing, the kind you can get behind. So go download “Baby Prayers” and prepare yourself for the June 1st release of “Stoned Alone”.
