Last night, my sister and I headed out to Mandrake Bar to hang out; plus I saw that Zinzi from KISSES was DJing. I’ve been really liking the single track “Bermuda” they’ve released. It’s just another track, among others, that have been beckoning Summer a little early this year. It’ll make you want to sit in the sun and drink a Mojito with your lady, that’s for sure.
Anyways, we got their early enough to chat with Zinzi a bit. Talking about the excitement of being recognized so widely online, her bandmate/lifemate Jesse (who’s also in the awesome band Princeton) in Austin for SXSW, and just music in general. All this in between her walking back to her computer to change the song. Their obvious love of disco and that dreamy kind of dancey synth music was strongly represented in what she played last too. She also assured me there is a stragedy to the seeming withhold of more music. Honestly, I think it will just make the eventual release of their full length that much sweeter. We’ll just have to deal with the single which is coming out on Transparent, and even more exciting is that Active Child is remixing the song for the B-side!
All in all, whatever they’re doing now seems to be working (on the Forkcast yesterday!!), so I don’t think they have anything to worry about. I love seeing the power of the internet at work!
Keep a look out for them, they’ve got something pretty awesome going on.
