Uh oh…I feel another obsession coming on.

Ever heard of “eerie, lo-fi, caustic rap(?) music with long, poetic names and spooky backwoodsy instrumentation.” Well now you have. Listener seems like a more accessible, more innovative version of mewithoutyou. They both have that yelling poetry aspect that is so raw, emotional, and somehow natural that you can’t help but listen quietly and attentively afraid you might miss something if you don’t pay close attention.

“Is this Arkansas’ answer to Die Antwoord?”

It just might be. Only time will tell. How well can Listener “take over the interweb?!”

Thanks to the always reliable yvynyl:

Listener - Ozark Empire, or a snake oil salesman comes to your town

Dan Smith from Listener just msg’d me to tell me he’s about to embark on an 8-month(!) tour to support his record “Return to Struggleville” which you can preview in it’s entirety on his Bandcamp. It’s eerie, lo-fi, caustic rap(?) music with long, poetic names and spooky backwoodsy instrumentation.  Is this Arkansas’ answer to Die Antwoord? A southern Henry Rollins? I dunno, but I couldn’t stop watching.

Completely irrelevant side note - Dan is sporting my *exact* same hair cut.  Odd.
